Borgo Lucignanello History
Borgo Lucignanello is located at the top of a hill between the Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia, a glimpse of the splendid Tuscan countryside transformed today into a period resort.
Inhabited since Roman times, Lucingnano d'Asso (Lucignanum Longassum) assumed its definitive form only in the Middle Ages, when it became part of the Sienese properties. Documents of the fifteenth century attest that already at that time the land was owned by the Piccolomini family, whose name is intertwined with numerous stages of Italian social history and whose heirs still live in the noble palace of Lucignano d'Asso.
The complex consists of five houses and a farmhouse: the apartments can generally accommodate four people and all have a fireplace. They share a magnificent infinity pool, framed by olive trees and overlooking an incomparable landscape made of hills and woods and all around comfortable beds for hours of total relaxation.
The independent farmhouse, dating back to the eighteenth century and located 300 meters from the village, while maintaining intact all the historical characteristics of the Tuscan tradition, also features modern amenities, such as satellite TV, air conditioning in the master bedroom, Wi-fi, washing machine, dishwasher and microwaves. Able to accommodate eight people has a large garden outside, a covered parking and a veranda with barbecue.
The furnishings of the houses are studied in detail, recreating welcoming and elegant atmospheres, with spaces and materials respectful of the context and tradition, such as local travertine, the red of the typical terracotta, the tempera wall decorations and the artisan ceramics. A harmonious environment where simplicity and beauty harmonize with the environment, reconciling modern needs with historical heritage.
All houses are usually booked with only overnight accommodation, but upon request can be arranged various extra services (private cook, cooking classes, tasting of extra virgin olive oil), and organize activities in the area such as visits to famous companies wineries of Montelpuciano and Montalcino or guided tours of Siena and other places of art.
Borgo Lucignanello also offers the opportunity to get married in Tuscany, having as a splendid location an entire village. Weddings can be celebrated at the church of San Biagio located inside the village, or in the church of San Pietro in Villore in San Giovanni d'Asso. The festivities can then be carried out in the garden of the Casale or on the pool terrace, a perfect location to make a special day unforgettable.
