Castello di Monleone History
The Castle of Monleone has only a century of life, yet it has the charm of a place rich in history and mystery, built in 1905 by the will of the Marquis De 'Fornari, located on the site of the medieval fort of Monleone, erected in 1173 by the Republic of Genoa and whose walls are still visible. Inspired by the neo-renaissance style of the Italian architect Coppedè, it has a high tower that dominates the stretch of coast that goes from the Cinque Terre to Portofino.
From the large panoramic terrace, where breakfast is served during the summer, the avenues of a lush and large Mediterranean garden, dotted with ancient statues and caves, unfold. An enchanting setting for guests of the five rooms, characterized by antique furniture and furnishings and finely frescoed ceilings.
Each room is "baptized" with the name of one of the glorious ships built in Moneglia at the beginning of the nineteenth century: Monteleone, Peodomea, Josè Maria, Fleuche and Bella Fidanza.
The treatment is only Bed & Breakfast, but guests of the castle can take advantage of all the facilities of the Villa Edera hotel, located one hundred meters away and equipped with swimming pool, restaurant, bar and lobby. The "landlords" personally manage this activity, guaranteeing a courtesy service and an intimate and familiar atmosphere.
