Castello di San Giorgio Canavese History
The Biandrate Castle, famously known as San Giorgio Castle, in San Giorgio Canavese, in the province of Turin, is an imposing building, symbol of the country
The already existing castle of San Giorgio Canavese presided over the local castrum with defensive purposes as early as the 10th century. Only in the twelfth century was it rebuilt in the form of a set of buildings from the counts of Biandrate. The castle is made up of two distinct parts, connected by an elevated masonry bridge: the first is the actual castle, consisting of buildings built between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and remodeled in the eighteenth century, they have now been completely restored in the elegant baroque forms. The second part is the oldest part of the complex, dating back to the XII century, where the resort is currently housed.
Today 12 rooms have been carefully restored and frescoed and suitable for hosting events. There are also welcoming common areas and large spaces surrounded by the beauty of the surrounding greenery.
In the same complex of the Castle of San Giorgio there is the guesthouse which has been completely restored and transformed into an accommodation that now houses 10 rooms divided into suites and junior suites as well as a restaurant, a wine bar and lounge bar.
Ideal environment to spend your holidays, a weekend with family or friends experiencing the luxurious feeling typical of ancient country houses without renouncing all modern comforts.
In addition to being a magnificent location for wedding receptions, the complex has recently been used as a film set for famous TV dramas: above all that of "Elisa di Rivombrosa".
