Chateau Cortils is an old estate located in a valley surrounded by woods, the Land of Herve, in the north of the province of Liège. Although it may seem that time has been frozen on this pristine domain of 76 hectares, every means of comfort is set up in the castle to ensure relaxing stays immersed in nature.
Château Cortils History
The Chateau Cortils domain was founded in the Carolingian era in 941 as a stronghold to protect the residents. In the past eleven centuries there have been continuous expansions, renovations and expansions, up to and including the shed for carriages and guests, the orangery and the large farm.
The estate extends over seventy-six hectares of which sixty are used for agricultural land. There are some horses, a duck farm with Indian meat ducks, bee colonies and a farm with seven different breeds of sheep.
In and around the castle there are nine rental accommodations, capable of accommodating from two to twelve people and which together are also suitable as accommodations for groups of 50 people. In every corner of Château Cortils you can breathe the authentic atmosphere of bygone times. Up to 23 people can eat together in the Bordes residence on the ground floor of the castle and up to 50 in the Koetshuis, the large kitchen located externally with dining rooms and multifunctional courtyard.
