Strmol Castle is located on the slopes of the Dvorjanski hrib just a short walk from the center of Cerklje na Gorenjskem in central Slovenia. In the 13th century, the Knights of Strmol established their base here and the fortress took their name, maintaining it over the centuries despite the succession of owners. Even during the most turbulent centuries, Strmol Castle has retained its original form, making it one of the oldest and best preserved castles in Slovenia. The furnished rooms are decorated with antique wooden furniture and equipped with every comfort, while outside the beauties of the garden with a terrace overlooking the surrounding nature offer moments of pure relaxation.

Strmol Castle is one of the only two Slovenian castles with original furnishings. The last private owner of Strmol castle, Rado Hribar, was an industrialist, art lover and one of the richest men in the country. Together with his wife Ksenija, he gave the palace its present appearance, creating an impressive place for receptions and social gatherings with the Slovenian and European nobility of that time. With their sophisticated and cosmopolitan taste, they decorated the castle over the years with a rich collection of works of art and objects of exceptional value, which are still displayed in the great halls of the manor.
In order to preserve the cultural heritage, the castle was completely restored in 2010-2012.
