The Hirter Braukeller is one of the most traditional companies in Carinthia being connected to the Hirt brewery founded in 1270, for centuries a point of contact for lovers of special Hirter beer specialties.
Hirter Bier History
At the "Hirter Braukeller" brewery, typical Carinthian hospitality, the special "delicacies" of Carinthian cuisine and the whole range of Hirter beers await you.
A first mention of the Hirt brewery is made in 1270, when it is mentioned in the list of assets of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Gurk and from 1493 it is possible to trace all the owners to date without any gap.
For many years, the brewery and brewery have enjoyed a particular reputation. At the time of the beer cartel, when Hirter could only be sold in the restaurants of the region, lovers of our beer also came from far away to be able to take the noble nectar directly into the brewery. Even though Hirter was sold only regionally, in a short time her fame was such as to reach Vienna enjoying an excellent image.
The main promoters of those times were the Carinthian students who attended the university in Vienna: for them it was a must to make a long stop in Hirt on the way home.
This great "promotional work" carried out by Carinthian students especially in the Austrian capital was evident when the beer cartel ceased on 31.12.1980 and, following the high demand, it was decided to distribute Hirter beer throughout Austria
The well-kept environment invites to a pleasant stop and is ideal as an ideal setting for any occasion.
The cellar of the associated Hirter brewery offers a unique setting for every occasion in rustic and well-kept rooms.
