Hotel Villa Hammerschmiede History
The historical origin of the present Villa Hammerschmiede is closely linked to the history of the Söllingen hammer. In the 15th century, the marquis and future Grand Duke Karl-Friedrich dedicated himself to promoting the prosperity and entrepreneurial activity of his country, founding himself the hammer factory on the border between Söllingen and Kleinsteinbach.
The blacksmith Johann Goblée designed the work, which was put into operation only by the widow as a hammer. In 1893 the current hotel was built as the residence of the manager by the then owner.
In 1930, Gottfried Herte sold the object to Wolfram Werke of Krupp AG.
With the Krupp era began the flowering period of the company, which ended in 1973 with the sale and dismantling of the plant. In 1989, entrepreneur Norbert Schwalbe bought this object to make a dream come true, turning it into a particularly attractive hotel
Carefully restored, inside the spaces were completely renovated with style. The knowledge of the possibilities of gastronomy today here has been optimally combined and has produced a convincing all-round result and from the villa a new hotel contract was born.
With 24 rooms and 5 very exclusive suites with 57 beds, it offers the perfect intimacy for every traveller.
