In a city like Rotterdam, the beautiful inn "In Den Rustwat" from 1597 is a precious oasis where you will find a perfect combination of tranquility with modern and innovative cuisine.
In Den Rustwat History
In the past, the In Den Rustwat restaurant was affectionately known as the "break room." In fact, it still is: when you leave our restaurant, we'll make you feel like a better person.
In Den Rustwat is housed in one of Rotterdam's best preserved historic buildings. The inn dates back to 1597 and now has a history of no less than 400 years of culinary pleasure. At that time, the pub was still located at the top of the Honingerdijk, but in 1959 the building was moved to its current location near the Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum.
Many authentic items have been preserved; the tiled floor is original, just like the blue Delft tiles on the wall. The "collapsed" thatched roof really catches the eye. Since its reopening on May 18, 1960 by the mayor of Walsum, the hospitable and personal, elegant and gastronomic "refreshment room" has been one of the best culinary facilities in Rotterda, especially appreciated by guests for its quietness and the large terrace where they can taste the high quality creations of chef Marcel van Zomeren.
