Flying on the wings of history: in Nervesa della Battaglia, in an airfield museum at the foot of the Montello hills, there is a unique place where you can admire the most famous flying collection active in Italy, with original means or perfect replicas, as the legendary Fokker of the Red Baron or the hunting of Francesco Baracca. It is one of the most typical examples of airport architecture of aviation origin and probably the only original model in the world still used for aeronautical purposes. A flying museum not to be missed

Johnatan Collection Aerei Storici Famosi History

At Nervesa della Battaglia there is a small chapel to remember the point where the "ace of aces" Francesco Baracca was shot down after 34 glorious victories by the Austrians on June 19, 1918 while it was machine-gunning the bridges on the Piave to prevent the Austro-Hungarian army.

And it is in Nervesa, in an airfield museum at the foot of the Montello hills, already the scene of the most legendary World War II aircrafts, that you can admire a fleet of historical aircraft that made the history of world aviation built by Giancarlo Zanardo, President of the "Jonathan Collection - Famous Historic Airplanes - ONLUS" Foundation and pilot with over 2,500 flying hours to his credit: the Wright Flyer, the first aircraft to perform a motorized flight and also the only flying copy in the world or the Blériot XI, one of the most famous protagonists of aviation history and protagonist of the first crossing of the English Channel in 1909. The Fokker DR.I hunting triplet of the "Red Baron" Manfred von Richthofen, the Caproni Ca.3 first bomber in history used by Gabriele D'annunzio and the biplane Spad XIII, the fighter used during the First World War by Francesco Baracca

In the original Bessoneau hangar dating back to the First World War you can breathe the passion for air and for the flight, but you can relive the history, in a territory that is the protagonist of bloody clashes and heroic exploits. The foundation has the purpose of divulging the historical memory of aviation and promoting flight activity as a historical and social value, reviving the thrill of the flight by means of almost 100 years ago reconstructed with care and precision: from the Flyer of the Wright brothers, the first airplane in the world that flew back in 1903, to the Fokker DR.I hunting triplane famous because used by the "Red Baron", up to Blériot XI, one of the most famous aircraft in aviation history, protagonist of the first crossing of the English Channel and the first flight of war. A flying museum definitely not to be missed, with a guided tour, perhaps attending a private aerial exhibition or on the occasion of special events during which they are organized perfect historical reconstructions with lots of fake knockdowns.
