Castello del Nero dates back to the 12th century and is located between Florence and Siena in the Chianti area. The Castello rooms are decorated with original frescoes and ceilings with exposed wooden beams, and are equipped with air conditioning and plasma TV. Michelin starred restaurant "La Torre" is located in the old stable of the castle and offers an à la carte menu accompanied by a wide selection of local wines. Immersed in the Florentine hills, in the flourishing Chianti region, Castello del Nero Hotel & Spa is ideally located for those who want to explore the beautiful Tuscany: it is in fact a few kilometers from the characteristic town of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and just minutes from centers of Florence and Siena.
The Castle, a typical example of a noble residence of the twelfth century Tuscan countryside, is surrounded by a vast property of 400 hectares, a natural oasis habitat of pheasants and wild boar. Today transformed into a temple of luxury, with the conservative restoration carried out under the Superintendency of the Artistic and Cultural Heritage, all its ancient splendor has been highlighted, with frescoes, terracotta floors, ancient stone fireplaces, original and solemn vaulted ceilings: in the property there is also a chapel still consecrated, used to celebrate the wedding rituals.
Guests can choose between 50 rooms and suites, modernized in full respect of the historic prestige of the house but equipped with modern comforts, in line with luxury hospitality: air conditioning, TV with free on demand, Wi-Fi. The apartments are divided into Classic, Executive and Deluxe, different from each other in the furnishings, style and design, have wooden beams and bathrooms covered with elegant mosaics and marble. Each of the 18 suites is different for its style and in some of them the colors of the plaster have been harmonized in order to reproduce the original decorations of the hand-painted ceilings and family crests.
The restaurant "La Torre", located in what was once the stable, offers a wide selection of dishes derived from the Tuscan tradition, rigorously prepared with genuine products of the highest quality. Pasta, bread and pastries are homemade, while the wine list offers the best local labels.
During the summer you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner on the terrace of the "Garden Restaurant" while you let the eye on the landscape of vineyards and olive trees of the property. The Bar instead finds space in the ancient kitchens of the Castle and is the ideal place to enjoy a refreshing drink during the day or for a snack accompanied by one of the renowned wines of the area. Wine lovers will find in the cellar an intimate and refined environment where they can organize a private banquet or for tastings of wine or extra-virgin olive oil organized by the expert sommelier.
