Kasteel Kerckebosch History
At the beginning of the 20th century Jonkheer Egbert Lintelo de Geer began the construction of Kasteel Kerckebosch, a splendid castle in an attractive and bright wood on the outskirts of the town of Zeist. Antiques and ornaments from nearby restored churches and castles create a unique style of the interior. The two antique doors with cast iron knockers come from Utrecht Cathedral and the fireplace in the conservatory is from an 18th-century Amsterdam canal house. During the recent refurbishment of the hotel and its two restaurants, Ingmar Sloothaak and chef Hans van Triest stylishly complemented the original interior with contemporary elements. From the cozy lounge with its inviting fireplace, French doors open onto the Kasteel Kerckebosch's wonderful and spacious terrace overlooking the lush castle gardens fringed with mature trees providing shade and privacy. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. The city of Utrecht with its many museums is just a few minutes away, as is Amersfoort. The area is ideal for walking or cycling.
Kasteel Kerckebosch has two restaurants. In the "Restaurant Kerckebosch", chef Menno van der Pol serves classic cuisine and more contemporary gastronomic delights. In the informal bistro you can enjoy a good glass of wine, a platter of cold cuts, or an appetizing selection of French cheeses.
The authentic rooms of the castle have a breathtaking view of the surrounding woods. The Tower Suite boasts a large four-poster bed with delicate ornate carvings.
