The Camemi Castle, located on the north side of Monte Lauro, is a historic dwelling dating back to the fifteenth century transformed today into a hotel de charme, immersed in the unspoiled green hills between Catania and Ragusa. The Castle has 14 elegantly furnished rooms, stone floors, private bathroom, a restaurant serving traditional Sicilian and Italian dishes and large outdoor and indoor spaces ideal for hosting wedding receptions and banquets.
Castello Camemi History
The Camemi Castle is located between the lush hills of the Val di Noto, between Mineo and Vizzini, where serenity and harmony reign supreme over the district once a fiefdom of the Ventimiglia family. Its origins date back to the fifteenth century when this noble Sicilian family of Genoese origin chose this extraordinary natural scenery as the site of a superb fortified residence. But the castle was above all the sumptuous summer residence of the White Queen of Navarre, around which stories and legends revolve inextricably linked to this corner of Sicily.
Staying at Camemi Castle today means taking a leap into time in the glorious past of this house: the vivid contrast between the sunny countryside and the lush gardens of the castle, between the imposing facade and the sumptuous interior rooms, make this place a treasure chest it seems to contain the very essence of Sicilian beauty. Once you have crossed the large entrance door you enter the inner courtyard, the heart of the residence, where time seems to have stopped.
The rooms of the Camemi Castle, located between the main floor, the old warehouses and the oil mill have preserved intact all their ancient charm. Environments that recall an aristocratic elegance of the past, with antique furniture, classic furnishings and many small details such as the harmoniously enhanced exposed beams. There is no lack of comfort in a contemporary hotel such as the hot tub in some of the Superior and Imperial rooms.
The old barn, overlooking the courtyard, houses the restaurant of the Castle: here, among period furnishings, ceilings with exposed beams and stone walls, the typical cuisine of the rich Sicilian tradition is served; local products and ancient flavors reworked with care, ancient recipes that rediscover new life and form. The cellar will accompany the delicious meals with a wide selection of Sicilian wines.
The Castello Camemi swimming pool is undoubtedly the ideal place to appreciate the silence and calm of this ancient dwelling. In the shade of the imposing palm tree and surrounded by the colors and scents of the bougainvilee, guests love to spend their days admiring the wonders of the Sicilian countryside.
The outdoor spaces and the richly decorated rooms are ideal for hosting important events even for more than 400 guests. A location with enormous charm, where you can enjoy a banquet that will leave indelible memories, surrounded by nature, history and culture.
