Castello di Sinio History
Castello di Sinio is a luxurious boutique hotel set among the Barbaresco and Barolo vineyards, in the Piedmont Langhe setting, not far from the towns of Serralunga, La Morra and Monteforte d'Alba.
The Castle, or the fifteenth-century fortress that stands at the apex of the concentric, was built by the Marquis del Carretto to replace the medieval manor. Thus a late-Gothic palace was built on which the quadrangular tower stood out, unfortunately over a century ago, following the sale by the last counts of Vassallo di Castiglione to be used as a rural residence.
The façade facing piazza Marconi is characterized by the presence of elegant mullioned windows interspersed with single-lancet windows, a large entrance ogival portal and a painting: the fresco, recently restored, overlooks the sought-after arch with the del Carretto crest and depicts Sant'Antonio Abata and San Sebastiono on the sides of the Madonna with the Child. The author is not known, but the painting is attributable to the so-called "school of the Monregalese" of artists active in the fifteenth century.
During the last century the structure has undergone significant transformations, but maintaining the distinctive features of the noble residence and after careful restoration work, the building now offers its historic walls to visitors.
All the interiors have been recovered according to the medieval architecture, with the antique furniture underlined by the terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams and the original stone walls. The hotel's spacious and refined rooms feature luxury furniture, a private bathroom with brass fittings, Wi-Fi internet access and a flat-screen TV.
Equipped with a panoramic outdoor pool, a sauna and a gym, it also offers a wellness room, where on request you can relax with massages and treatments.
The Hotel Castello di Sinio is also famous for its excellent restaurant, where you can taste the typical delicacies of the Piedmontese cuisine and the ever-present selection of local and national wines.
