Il Salviatino History
Located just 10 minutes from the center of Florence, Hotel Il Salviatino is located in the hills of Fiesole, between parks and gardens and is one of the most famous and celebrated luxury hotels.
Its origins date back to the fourteenth century when it was still a medieval country house, then undergoing various restorations and extensions under the various owners since 1447. Among the most significant owners we mention the Orsini who kept it until 1517 when it passed to Salviati - from which the villa takes its name from - which made it rebuild. The House of the Salviati became extinct in the early 1800s and the villa passed into the hands of Francesco d'Antonio Frilli, Marshal of the Kingdom of Naples. Other owners succeeded until arriving to the poet Ugo Ojetti, under which the villa knew a real rebirth, making changes to the lodges and replanting the Italian garden and making the villa, at the beginning of the last century, an important cultural center .
From the end of the Second World War up to the 80s the building hosted the headquarters of the University of Standford in Florence and after a period of semi abandonment the villa was renovated reopening in 2010 as a luxury hotel.
The 61 rooms and suites are furnished in a happy combination of traditional furniture and modern comforts, in an alternation of fine fabrics produced by local crafts and works of art, but also many amenities to make every stay unforgettable.
