Castel Aichberg, dating back to around 1600, is located in Appiano, on the famous Strada del Vino. Surrounded by vineyards and orchards, the hotel welcomes visitors in an idyllic setting, away from everyday stress. Castel Aichberg History
In a stretch of rows of vines and fruit trees near Appiano, the high square tower of Castel Aichberg peeps out. Crowned with dovetail merlons, it is the characterizing element of this late-medieval castle, once owned by the Leys von Paschbach family.
The architectural style is the local Überetscher, characteristic of South Tyrol, with some elegant round-arched windows and small bay windows (sort of protrusions of the façade, circular or ppligonal, with large windows). For generations the castle has been the residence of the Counts von Khuen-Belasi, one of the oldest families in South Tyrol, who from March to October open its rooms to visitors, welcoming them to their family guests.
The structure, which was restored in 2001, is influenced by the "Oltradige style". There are typical elements such as square and stone framed windows, a terrazzo floor, large rooms and other elements typical of this style. Above the main entrance of the residence you can admire a fresco by Peter Fellin and in the chapel there are ancient paintings.
The double rooms and the mini-apartments with kitchenette are located in the central body of the building. In the choice of furnishings, antique and rustic Tyrolean style furniture have been combined with taste and elegance, creating warm and comfortable atmospheres. The hotel has a sauna or an outdoor swimming pool located in the middle of a large park, where there is also a play area for children.
