Palazzo Dalla Rosa Prati History

Of very ancient origins, the first documentary evidence relating to the palace dates back to 1222, when in Piazza San Ercolano (the current Piazza del Duomo) there was already a house owned by the Adami family that gave birth to Salimbene de Adam, one of the most famous chroniclers of the Middle Ages.

It was bought in the fifteenth century by the Prati, a noble family from Parma, of whom Gaspare and his son Bartolomeo, a doctor in law and a pupil of the famous Sceva de Corte in Pavia, are mentioned. During the Duchy of Ranuccio I Farnese, the daughter of the Marquis Prati married the Marquis Pier Luigi from Rosa Prati and from then on the family assumed the double surname.

The current appearance of Palazzo dalla Rosa Prati was delineated in the second half of the eighteenth century: the balcony of wrought iron facade, the games of the arches in the courtyard, the vast room on the first floor presumably painted by Binigno Bossi with the vault frescoed by Domenico Muzzi , reveal the expression of the best art of the time.

Today part of this noble house is open to hospitality, with delightful suites that offer an exceptional view of the sculptures and the capitals of the Duomo, the Baptistery and the charming Borgo S. Biagio. The apartments, of various sizes, are available for daily, weekly or monthly stays and have fully equipped kitchens, satellite TV, internet access and air conditioning.

The recent renovation has kept intact the architectural features while privileging modern comforts and flexibility of use: some suites can be connected to each other, allowing family use.

To make the stay even more pleasing, the structure houses a great lounge bar: the "TCafè", a unique place nestled between the picturesque alleys of the Duomo and the Baptistery where you can relax tasting an excellent coffee or the best selection of products from all the world, as well as the opportunity to browse through the exhibitions and installations hosted by the Palazzo da Rosa Prati.
