Relais du Chateau - Casa Illica is a fascinating place, a magical world enclosed within the medieval walls of Castell'Arquato, which rises from its 200 meters over the valley of one of the most fascinating medieval castles in Italy, pearl of the Castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza.
Casa Illica, historical residence bound by the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage, has retained the name of the illustrious owner Luigi Illica, poet and librettist of the composers Pietro Mascagni and Giacomo Puccini, pride of Castell'Arquato who made the small town famous all over the world .
The villa, after a thorough restoration in 2008, is today a maison de charme offering 3 rooms and 2 suites with an incomparable view of the surrounding landscape, a charming dwelling inspired by the concept of "boutique art hotel". So, like a small Hotel de charme, Casa Illica offers all the comforts of a 5-star hotel, with the comfort and tranquility of an exclusive residence, housed in one of Italy's most charming medieval villages.
Of nineteenth-century origins, Villa Illica has hosted throughout its history various famous people such as Gabriele D'Annunzio, Giacomo Puccini and Giosuè Carducci. Inside Casa Illica the atmosphere is made unique and welcoming by contemporary design furnishings and pieces of the nineteenth century; to exalt the international atmosphere of the house and evoke the famous operas, the magnificent Japanese obi (kimono belts) finished with silk and gold embroidery: precious relics to decorate the rooms, united in a refined fil rouge. On the walls of the whole villa stand out works by emerging artists and periodic exhibitions are organized to present guests with the creative excellence of the territory.
The house, of 400 square meters, overlooks the hills of Piacenza and is on three levels: on the ground floor 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom with a large living room, from whose windows the view sweeps as far as the eye on the valley; upstairs 2 suites and a veranda with a window facing the breathtaking panorama. Each level is independent and enjoys access to the common garden where there is a Jacuzzi in operation all year.
