Castello Malvezzi History
Colle San Giuseppe, the belvedere of Brescia, a terrace overlooking the city: this is where the Castello Malvezzi rises, a sixteenth century hunting and pleasure lodge, then a prestigious residence of noble families, today home to one of the most renowned haute cuisine restaurants in the region.
The exterior of the building is so severe, how rich the interiors are, richly decorated with frescoes: it is the jewel of the central gallery, with vaulted ceilings and walls covered with Renaissance paintings and stuccos. To introduce in this context of great atmosphere is the director of the room that illustrates the dishes of the day to the guests. And immediately you realize that elegance and charm are also a matter of details: flowers and candles never fail on the table, while the menus and the wine list, hand-written with inks sepiae on antique paper, reveal the care and love for the class detail.
Interesting tasting menus, but you can choose to be tempted by the à la carte specialties, including pappardelle of buckwheat with game and broccoli and scampi with sesame; the greedy will not be able to resist the trolley of sweets, all strictly homemade.
The noble chapel adjacent to the castle is now a "temple of Bacchus": here is the ritual of choosing the right wine to match the dish, not a small feat, given the fifteen hundred labels in the cellar that also includes foreign wines.
