Il Convento della Pietà History
On a terrace overlooking the wonderful sea of Tropea are the Sole and Luna apartments created from the ancient Convent of the Pietà. Its history begins in Roman times, a time to which its foundations can be dated; centuries later its rooms were used as a hospital for the wounded returning from the Crusades. In the seventeenth century it then became a convent destined for the order of the Clarisse Sisters, while at the time of Gioacchino Murat assumed the function of barracks, as well as during the Second World War.
In 1987, with a long and meticulous restoration work, a group of friends decided to bring the convent back to its original beauty, making it the ideal place for a stay full of charm. Cozy rooms with sober and elegant furnishings, a structure rich in history and an incomparable panorama make the Convent of the Pietà the perfect destination for a holiday of pure relaxation in the city of Tropea.
