Located in a splendid position near Lake Trasimeno, Cortona and the territory of Montepulciano, Alla Corte del Sole is an elegant country relais in the heart of one of the most suggestive areas of Italy.
The hotel is the result of a careful renovation of a monastic settlement dating back to the 16th century, in turn built on the vestiges of a previous settlement of 1300, originally dedicated to San Donato and a stop for the multitude of pilgrims going to Rome. The structure of the complex keeps intact the original features of the ancient village, with the original architecture and the atmosphere out of time: all around a well-kept park and the collection of roses, the orchard, the ultracentenarian olive trees and the pool offer suggestive corners of peace and relaxation as well as the lounge bar housed in a structure reminiscent of refined winter gardens, a living room with windows overlooking the surrounding countryside where you can spend pleasant moments accompanied by a glass of good wine or a green tea with a piano background .
Where once the friars once lived there are now 18 rooms, including 4 suites with fireplace, tastefully furnished with antiques and fine fabrics, original paintings, carpets, four-poster beds, pretty armchairs and classy details, as well as all the comforts modern air conditioning, satellite TV, safe box and minibar, offering guests a feeling of well-being and warm hospitality.
The cuisine of Relais Alla Corte del Sole is entrusted to the care of chef Franceso Mirasola and his staff and offers dishes of the great Tuscan tradition. Great attention to the choice of ingredients and products that follow the season allow to revive flavors of ancient recipes and tastefully innovate the specialties of the area. The wine list presents a selection of the best Italian labels, kept in the ancient relais cellar, and for the most refined palates available tastings of extra-virgin olive oil, rum and cigars.
The Relais is also a perfect location for ceremonies and special events, with its spacious rooms ready to accommodate up to 350 guests comfortably seated and the outdoor areas of the park to give elegant and quiet atmospheres.
