The Club was founded on July 20, 1926 first as "Società Canottieri Jonica" and then, from 1950, with the name of "Circolo Canottieri "Jonica".

The club is based in Ognina in a magnificent setting with an outlet to the sea and both in winter with the halls full of trophies.
With over 90 years of history, it is one of the most exclusive and prestigious locations in Sicily
The club also has a highly prestigious sporting past, as the Ionica Rowers were also known for their results: Jonica in fact dominated Italian rowing for twenty years from the 60s to the 80s.
Especially in the summer, the Jonica comes alive with garden parties, giving members an oasis of light-heartedness and tranquility.
