The historic Marinella Cravatte store is located in the city center of Naples. The Marinella Cravatte company is among the commercial activities that have made the history of the city; present with his shop since 1914, it is national pride for its production of refined class and elegance ties, which does not find comparisons all over the world.
Cravatte Marinella History
At the beginning of the 20th century Eugenio Marinella laid the foundations of what would become one of the most fabulous Neapolitan "success stories". In 1914, on the eve of the First World War, Eugenio decided, demonstrating an undeniable dose of courage and resourcefulness, to open a shop in Piazza Vittoria on the elegant Riviera di Chiaia of Naples, then as today, one of the most beautiful waterfront in Italy . The position proved strategic for a small shop of only 20 square meters in front of which the high Neapolitan society walked.
After carrying out the renovations and acquiring the two ateliers, a very large one for the manufacture of shirts and another smaller one, for the ties, Don Eugenio undertook his first trip to London, to meet future suppliers. The shop soon became a small treasure chest where you can find authentic treasures of refinement and taste, a small corner of England in Naples. In an era in which the "English" style is very fashionable, Marinella is the only one to offer, in Naples, a wide range of exclusive products from London, demanding exclusivity from British suppliers. At the beginning, the main activity of the shop is not the tie but the shirt, queen of the male wardrobe.
In order to be at the top of fashion and quality, Eugenio induces some artisans of unparalleled level to move from Paris to teach his workers the art of cutting. As for ties, they are made exclusively in seven folds: the square is folded seven times inwards so as to give the tie an incomparable consistency. It is only long after the current tie with the internal structure makes its appearance. The store has gone through important historical events that have also changed the course of its history: the two world wars, the decline of the ancient nobility and the appearance of the new bourgeoisie with the advent of American products that bring substantial changes in fashion. Very attentive to the evolution of society and customs, Eugenio does not lose heart and interrupts the production of shirts in favor of the tie that becomes the lighthouse product of the Marinella house.
The real recovery, however, occurred in the eighties, when Francesco Cossiga, then President of the Republic and a friend of the family, became a true ambassador of the brand, taking the habit of bringing to the heads of state, in their official visits, a box containing five Marinella ties. The brand thus begins to travel around the world. The G7 organized in Naples in 1994 definitively opens the doors of the very exclusive circle of suppliers of the world's greats to the small Neapolitan company: the organizers decide to offer all the heads of state present a box containing six Marinella ties, bringing a huge advertising to the brand.
On the basis of an agreement with S.A.R. Prince Don Carlo of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, since 1995 Marinella will become official supplier of the Real House of the Two Sicilies The Royal House has granted this important recognition to a qualified and internationally renowned company, which is a reference point for Neapolitan entrepreneurship .
The passion for elegance and quality continues today thanks to Maurizio Marinella, the third generation of the family, who has collected the brand's heritage with an entrepreneurial spirit in tune with the modern laws of marketing, succeeding in making the E brand stand out. Marinella also abroad, from the United States to Japan. The production signed E.Marinella has kept the scrupulous attention to the quality of raw materials and the well-kept workmanship still rigorously handmade, for these "Neapolitan veracious" ties and at the same time "very british".
