The foundation of the convent dates back to 1212 by cardinal Pietro Capuano and after two years from its completion it was entrusted to the Cistercian monks who lived there until 1452. After alternating vicissitudes the Capuchin friars stayed there and from the end of 800 also used as a hotel. Today, thanks to a careful restoration that has respected the structure and the original lines, it is possible to live the Convent as it was and to breathe its age-old atmosphere.
