Harlingen Lighthouse (Vuurtoren van Harlingen) is a no longer active lighthouse that stands out on the panorama of Harlingen, Friesland, is now used as hotel accommodation
Harlingen Lighthouse History
This lighthouse hotel features beautifully rounded rooms and specially commissioned furniture to make the most of the unusual space. You can dine in the copper domed roof where you gaze ecstatically at the panoramic views. All of the original features have been carefully restored, including the harbor radio, so you can listen to the navigation frequency as you watch the ships arrive at the dock.
As the lighthouse's last keeper, Piet Beuker, noted, "For centuries, the eyes of the sailors were fixed on this spot. Now the roles have been wonderfully reversed: the lighthouse has become a lookout point."
After a few turns, the staircase leads to the first of three floors. This is the bathroom level with a striking round shower. A curved hallway leads to the living area with a custom bed, cozy sitting area and everything you need for a carefree stay. A steep staircase leads to the former skylight. Here you can sit at a table for two or go outside and walk around the lantern and enjoy the breathtaking view.
