Hotel Die Sonne Frankenberg is surrounded by historic half-timbered houses in the heart of Frankenberg’s old town, right on the market square. This makes it the ideal starting point for hiking or cycling, for example to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kellerwald National Park or the picturesque Lake Edersee. A few minutes walk away are the Thonet Museum and the picturesque cafes that invite you to stop.
Hotel Die Sonne Frankenberg History
The Sonne has been a place of hospitality since 1833. Since May 2007, you can stay in style in the medieval old town in the most beautiful square of the city in these cozy traditional houses. Around them, you will find picturesque half-timbered facades and the market square with its famous town hall with 10 towers and figures carved by Philipp Soldan, who gives his name to the gourmet restaurant of the property. The Schirn, which is the ground floor of the town hall, has hosted the weekly market for centuries.
The two restaurants of the hotel present the culinary diversity of the region: the SonneStuben restaurant is awarded a Bib Gourmand and shines with an incredible taste experience in a relaxed atmosphere.
Sonne’s cuisine mainly processes regional food, such as fresh bread that comes daily from the organic baker, eggs from the organic farm and organic meat from the local butcher.
