Villa San Donino is an eighteenth-century villa located in the beautiful Umbrian hill, surrounded by a centuries-old park. In this environment of peace and tranquility there are 38 rooms, a tennis court, a basketball court, volleyball court and a 25 meter swimming pool. The restaurant offers the genuine flavors of the local gastronomy, with particular attention to the products of the internal farm. The villa is also proposed as an ideal location for events and ceremonies, thanks to the large internal halls and the striking outdoor scenery.
Villa San Donino History
We are in the upper Tiber valley that has in Città di Castello, the ancient Tifernum, its most important center; and it is just a few kilometers from here that stands Villa San Donnino. Pines, firs, cypresses and ancient trees of various species create a naturalistic environment of great impact, which gives the hotel guests moments of complete relaxation. In the clearings of the park shaded by trees there are numerous sports facilities, which offer leisures
of every kind and valid alternatives to excursions to practice in the surroundings: a twenty-five meter long pool, tennis court, volleyball, basketball and football.
And, at the center of the park, preceded by a flowered garden of roses, the villa finally meets, a significant example of eighteenth-century architecture, original for the pediment surmounted by a large clock. A door of large stone blocks leads into the hall and from there to the bedrooms created in the central body of the building. Other rooms, on the other hand, are located in the two annexes that overlook a courtyard set in gardens with an ancient well in the center. The furnishings are in style at the house and of understated elegance. Inside the villa there is the church of San Donnino - where Mass is held every Sunday - in which a real palette of colors covers all the walls and vaults. In one of the annexes there is also a bright restaurant for the large arches that open onto the garden and the soft colors of the rooms. The gastronomic proposals are aimed mainly at traditional Umbrian recipes, but there are also Tuscan-Marche specialties. The hotel offers a shuttle service to reach the nearby Terme di Fontecchio.
