Castello di Cortevecchio

Among the thick foliage of oaks, conifers and ancient pines, the crenellated tower of the Cortevecchio castle peeps out. Located in Nogna, about twelve kilometers away from Gubbio, the castle is surrounded by some later annexes, dating back to the nineteenth century.
The Castello Cortevecchio rises from the ruins of the "Castrum Nognae", an ancient medieval manor. Fortified construction since the eleventh century, was one of the strongholds in defense of the town of Gubbio and inhabited through the centuries by great families and noble leaders.
The exposed stone dominates in all the buildings, which together form an original residence: it is, in fact, at the forefront of sports equipment and accommodation facilities, but is distinguished by an undisputed charm of the ancient, safeguarded by restorations conducted in compliance with pre-existing architectural lines. Do not look for frescoes
and decorations of a noble palace: here the atmospheres are assured by the rooms in typical local rustic style with wooden ceilings and terracotta floors and old or stylish furniture, always combined with harmony and good taste.

Accommodations range from a double room to a studio, from a two-room apartment to a detached house. The choice can then fall on the apartments that are located in the castle, in all eleven, or in the outbuildings, where they have been obtained six more. In any case, the guests of the residence have available barbecue area, outdoor pool, solarium, tennis court and bowls, table tennis, soccer and archery. You can also rent mountain bikes and horses with which it will be pleasant to explore the many dirt paths that lead into the woods and surrounding hills. Although each accommodation has a kitchen, for those who might want to try the specialty of local gastronomic tradition in the complex there is also a restaurant: homemade pasta, local meats and vegetable garden compose tasty and always varied menus.
