In the center of the southern side of the island, on the edge of a steep 70 m high cliff, overlooking the Skrivena Luka bay, is the Struga lighthouse. Offering a spectacular view of the open sea, the lighthouse building offers accommodation in four apartments that can accommodate up to people.
Lighthouse Cape Struga History
In the central part of the southern side of the island of Lastovo, at the entrance to the bay of Skrivena Luka, there is a cape Struga on which the lighthouse of the same name was built in 1839. Lastovo is a sparsely inhabited island with an archipelago consisting of more than 40 islands, islets and reefs. Because of its distance from the mainland, it looks like an isolated green spot surrounded by the blue sky and sea. The lighthouse is located at the height of 90 m above the sea level, on the edge of a sheer rock, from which there is an extraordinary view of the Lastovo archipelago.
The magnificent views make this lighthouse an exclusive place for an adventurous vacation. Access to the sea is quite easy, passing through a pine forest that descends from the lighthouse towards the sea.
The Struga lighthouse has a concrete pier where you can swim and where the sea is quite deep. It is possible to go to one of the beautiful rocky beaches in numerous hidden bays where the sea is relatively shallow. The beaches are also suitable for small children.
The island of Lastovo and the port of Ubli can be reached by ferry or catamaran from Split. The village of Ubli is about twenty kilometers from the lighthouse. Split can be reached in a few hours by ferry and an hour less by catamaran.
