The Plocica lighthouse, built in 1887, is located on the islet of the same name, situated between the islands of Korcula and Hvar and the Pelješac peninsula. It owes its name to its interesting appearance (Plocica means "plate" in Croatian). Low and flat, from a distance it looks like a plate sticking out of the sea.
Plocica can accommodate up to 14 people, and since it has no caretaker, it is ideal for Robinson-type tourism. The total area of the first floor and second floor is 165 m2. Around the building there is a paved courtyard where you can find shade during the whole day, thanks to tamarisk trees and centenary fig trees.
Faro Pločica History
The rocky bottom of the southern part with numerous rocks is in contrast to the shallow sea of the northern part with a small sandy lagoon in front of the boat depot. The beaches are suitable for small children and the waters around the islet are among the most fascinating on the Adriatic, especially for free diving. Angling also offers great opportunities, especially at dawn and late afternoon.
