Locanda dei Mai Intees History
The Mai lntees inn is owned by the Crosta family. A completely familiar management, which gives customers the feeling of being guests in a private home. In Lombard dialect, never intees means misunderstood ": an apparently extravagant name, but which has a very precise origin. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the great-grandfather of Paolo Crosta made this house a sort of cultural circle, frequented by writers, politicians and thinkers whose language was incomprehensible to ordinary people. Hence the name of the ever intees.
The inn is housed in a fifteenth-century country house with a decidedly romantic feel. On a courtyard shaded by palm trees, littered with pots of lemons and climbing plants and with an ancient well in the middle, a small wooden balcony looks out from the Romeo and Juliet shakespearian imagery. The dining room, with its candlelit tables, has a carved stone fireplace, a wooden beamed ceiling, a Greek depicting pretty cherubs running along all the frescoed walls; in the bedrooms there are warm tones, fine antique furniture and embroidered bedspreads, while the only suite, housed on the last floor of the ancient tower, is set up only on special occasions. The courtyard is used mostly in the summer for dinner, while the veranda is a cozy lounge to spend time reading or conversing with the hosts.
The proposed cuisine is traditional Lombard - cutlets and risottos are never lacking - but not without international or creative ideas, such as the fillet deer with redcurrant sauce. The winery boasts more than a hundred labels of the best Italian wines.
