Antico Maniero History
The Antico Maniero is the "name of art" that the owners wanted to give to their home. It is in fact a turreted palace of neo-gothic taste that in its most ancient parts dates back to the eighteenth century, but which saw the addition of rooms in the nineteenth century. It can be reached by following the numerous indications that from the shores of Lake Maggiore lead "in those of Lesa" to the top of a hill. From here the view is lost among the thick vegetation of the English park, which, without interruption, merges with the green of the nearby Villa Aranci and Villa Alice, ranging up to see the opposite side of the lake.
Inside the manor develops in a sequence of rooms of various sizes with frescoed ceilings - mostly nineteenth-century - antique furniture, damask tapestries with intense shades, crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and fireplaces, silver and vintage paintings . The only environment of recent construction is the large panoramic veranda, used for wedding receptions or gala dinners. The atmosphere, thanks to the constant presence of the landlords who stop to talk with guests, is that saloon of a private residence, with something more. The spaces are all designed to adapt to different needs: a small room can become a refuge for a romantic candlelight meeting or turn into a private for a few close friends, with a single table for an evening with friends.
There are those who come to the Antico Maniero only to taste excellent cuisine. There are numerous and unusual proposals on the menu, which leaves the traditional regional repertoire, in keeping with the wine list, which is not without foreign labels. Among the specialties, risotto with pumpkin flowers and savory and steamed seabass fillet with mint mayonnaise.
