Of neoclassical style, with evident liberty alterations of the early twentieth century, in 1990 it was declared "of particularly important historical and artistic interest" by the Superintendency for the Cultural Heritage of Salerno and Avellino, both for the structure, with essential and elegant lines, and for the refined interior settings, as well as for some precious and ancient furnishings, still present.
Certain historical sources report that, during the Risorgimento, the Carboneria in Castelfranci counted one of the most aggressive groups in the Province. It is said that the secret castellese association, embraced the revolutionary ideals, participated in the insurrectionary movements of 1820 led by the Carbonari Nola Morelli and Silvati, used to meet frequently also at the Palazzo Vittoli.
Captain Casimiro Celli was accused of high treason by the Bourbon government and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He died on June 8, 1849. An ancient canvas, which portrays him in full uniform, is exhibited at Palazzo Vittoli
