Schloss Landeck History
Originally built as a Tyrolean castle of the princely court in the 13th century, the castle was first mentioned in documents in 1296. The castle was granted to Schrofenstein from 1518 to 1549 and from 1549 to 1705 to the Gienger. In 1840 the seat of the court changed into a former residence on Herzog-Friedrich-Straße and the castle became a military barracks. In 1942, the city of Landeck bought the castle, so after a restoration and a contemporary redesign from the last century it is the seat of the Landeck district museum
