Villa Cheta Elite History
When in 1891 the Marsicano family built Villa Cheta Elite, it certainly could not have imagined that more than a century later it would become the seat of a refined hotel. Yet the seed of good hospitality took root here thanks to this family, whose availability recalled the exponents of the noblest families of the time. The landlady of that time in fact loved to often give receptions and cook for the diners tasty dishes accompanied by good local wine.
A tradition now collected and perpetuated by the current owners, who likewise welcome guests as guests of the house: an informal, familiar atmosphere and a discreet and personalized service, made even more pleasant by the small number of rooms (twenty-three in all) and from the gathered spaces of the hotel.
The interiors, including the rooms, have period furnishings, especially in Art Nouveau style: mirrors, lamps, chairs, volute decorations for the walls and a few paintings from previous periods. Stained glass windows, also in the style of the early twentieth century and floral friezes characterize the ancient pink façade.
In the Maratea restaurant, the menu is based on seasonal, fresh and genuine ingredients, both with local specialties such as delicious cheeses, lamb or goat, and seafood with fish and shellfish. Even the outdoor areas guarantee elegance and good taste: during the summer, breakfast and dinner are served on the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Policastro, adorned with a bower of bougainvillea and surrounded by a garden with exotic plants.
The beach below can be reached on foot in a few minutes and offers a jagged coastline, formed by a series of small rocky coves.
