The Baglio Spanò is a typical rural farmhouse dating back to the end of 1800, still situated in the respect of tradition, in the middle of a manor of about 600 hectares of vineyards. Summer residence of the old Montalto Spanò family, today offers its guests the chance to relive the past times in a farmhouse that has maintained its original features, where period furniture, the sea, the genuine cuisine and the slow passing of time are amalgamated in a high level hospitality.
Baglio Spanò History
Located just 20 minutes from Marsala, surrounded by vineyards, this fortified farmhouse from the late 1800s was the summer home of the noble Montalto Spanò family. The Baglio Spanò is accessed via a country road which, crossing the entire estate, leads to an imposing portal, surrounded by high walls built in rough tuff, which surround the entire complex.
As soon as it is over, what is striking is the large courtyard that divides the manor houses in two and a series of rural structures, once used as warehouses for the collection and processing of the grapes. The baglio develops on two floors: on the ground floor there are the cellars which, wisely restored, today welcome the dining area in a warm and comfortable environment. Here you can taste the typical dishes, wines and genuine products of the territory in full relax. Even breakfast is served here, where guests can cheer with the view of the secular citrus grove in front of the beautiful season that releases a sweet scent of orange blossom.
Through a large hall ending in a balcony with sea view you access the first floor and it is precisely on this level that the rooms are located: each room, totally independent, allows guests to enjoy a stay marked by the quiet rhythm of nature, enjoying of all the comforts of a modern structure. Furnished with original furniture of the late '800, equipped with heating and air conditioning and made unique by a refined hand-decorated flooring, with different designs for each room. Every piece of furniture, furniture, object of collection recalls the Sicilian tradition. The strong personality of each room, with the ancient flavor of the history that is breathed in each of them, inspired their name "Inzolia", "Grillo", "Grecanico" are in fact the main vines used for the production of Marsala wine that made these lands famous throughout the world.
Large areas of relaxation arranged in different positions of the property allow guests of Baglio Spanò to enjoy every day of the day both in the sun and in the coolness. The property has a patio covered with terracotta and wood tiles, framed by magnificent bougainvillea and equipped with tables and chairs to relax. On the opposite side of the Baglio you can access a second patio, overlooking the citrus grove, which with its scents and colors, symbols of a timeless Sicilianity, give the Baglio an enchanted and timeless atmosphere.
