Villa Palocla History
Anemone, Camellia, Hyacinth, Broom, Mimosa, Lily of the valley, Narcissus, Hydrangea. These are the names of the rooms of Villa Palocla, an elegant country residence typical of the Sicilian nobility of the golden age in which the Gattopardo is set, the famous novel by Giuseppe Tornasi di Lampedusa, which tells of the splendor and the sunset of the rich 'island. The year of foundation is 1750 and of that period, thanks to the recent restoration, still retains the charm of the late Baroque style the colors and rural architecture of western Sicily. The rooms are different from each other, played on shades of colors such as pink, yellow, green, and have antique furnishings and vaulted ceilings, some of these lancets. The six apartments on the second floor have a private entrance.
The restaurant is distributed in three small rooms, characterized by a sober elegance and ceilings with wooden beams, and in the winter garden. The menu offers specialties of high gastronomy with the delicacies of the Mediterranean tradition.
The 70 seats of the internal rooms and the 100 of the winter garden make Villa Palocla particularly suitable for the organization of receptions, business lunches and meetings.
The structure of the villa is spread out in a very articulate and functional way to different activities: in the cobbled courtyard, in the center of which there is an ancient well, a space suitable for dinners and banquets has been created, while in another space , paved in Sicilian terracotta, has been created the swimming pool, equipped with deck chairs, tables and umbrellas.
The avenue that leads to the entrance of the house has a row of perspective arches, which with the tall palm trees of the garden create an evocative choreography. All around there is a lush citrus grove, which makes the villa seem almost in the middle of an oasis.
