The Feudal Castle at Novi Merli houses a restaurant that offers various tasting menus that look to both local tradition and fish preferences. The Castle is also an ideal place to celebrate weddings and ceremonies, in a very suggestive location surrounded by a magnificent park and an immense view of the Turin mountains.
Castello ai Nove Merli History
When Antonio Chiodi Latini took over the fourteenth-century castle of Piossasco, the building showed indelible signs of the passage of looters, ancient and modern, of various changes of ownership and function that, only in the twentieth century, had seen it transform from home of the last count Piossasco-None to restaurant, disco and finally piano-bar. Today he has returned to host a restaurant, but thanks to the restoration of the original architectural and artistic elements, he has regained the historical value that is his own.
There are four levels on which the building is developed, including the first floor with the Camino, the Cartigli, the Verde and the Azzurra hall, covered with Renaissance decorations, and the second floor, which houses the room of the Friars, a picturesque corner once reserved for prelates visiting the castle. So there are several rooms available: rooms for gatherings, suitable for candlelit dinners or for a few friends, a hall of the Feasts, but also a centuries-old olive grove and a fragrant Mediterranean garden, made lively by the water of many fountains, which also the distant profile of Turin is dressed in poetry. But the kitchen is the strong point of hospitality, which offers a wide range of proposals, which recognizes the personal touch of the chef, skilled in combining ancient recipes and regional dishes; even bread and breadsticks are made at home. We organize costume parties, fireworks shows, treasure hunts and musical evenings on request.
