The history of the Castle of San Giuseppe is poised between the sacred and the profane. In fact, since 1640, the year of foundation by initiative of San Tomaso Barberio da Guarena, in the early nineteenth century this building housed a convent of the order of the Teresian fathers first and of the Discalced Carmelite friars then, with the arrival of Napoleon Bonaparte was confiscated and turned into a military fortress.
Thus began a process that saw him go from the family of Napoleon Bonaparte to the poet Giuseppe Bianchi, up to the Italian-American Giovanni Perona. The latter was surrounded by an entourage of artists, writers and theater personalities, including the Hollywood star Ginger Rogers, the librettist Giuseppe Giacosa, the actress Eleonora Duse and the composer Arrigo Boito. Each of these characters is dedicated to one of the hotel's rooms. Period furniture and style create environments full of atmosphere and warmth, while particularly suggestive are the rooms dedicated to Boito, with beautiful frescoed vaults, and to the Duse, with a four-poster bed.

The castle also lends itself to hosting meetings and small conferences, which acquire a very relaxing atmosphere of relaxation.
