Logement Swaenenvecht History
Swaenenvecht Lodging is located in the historic building of the same name, a national and municipal monument. The building is composed of separate parts, built at different times.
Swaenenvecht has a complex floor plan, although the main shape is rectangular. The facade consists of a left part that has a stepped gable from the Renaissance period. The right part of the building has a listed gable from the 19th century, which is plastered in gray. The Renaissance part was purchased in 1670 to serve as a rectory for the Reformed Church of Oud-Zuilen, after which it appears to have also been a carriage house. This part has four pillars and on the right side of the facade is the entrance, consisting of a special round-arched doorway plastered in white with a monumental frame and cornice.
In the pediment is a plaque with two fighting swans and the text "Swaenen-Vecht". The stepped gable is decorated with balls and cover plates. The right side of the house is younger. It dates from the first quarter of the 19th century and has six sliding windows on the Vecht side. Later, an extension was added to the back. The interior of the house is very complex. It has exceptionally many levels and an insertion in the 17th century part.
