Villa Duchessa Margherita History
Villa Duchessa Margherita is a recently renovated villa dating back to 1850 located in Vicoforte, a few steps from the Langhe.
The villa has 10 rooms elegantly furnished with antique furniture such as French antique furniture, Louis XVI style chest of drawers, gilded mirrors, wooden floors and an antique fireplace, all with hydromassage showers or whirlpool baths and chromotherapy . Some have a magnificent view of the surrounding hills and close to the Vicoforte Sanctuary.
It owes its name to Margherita, the eldest daughter of Carlo Emanuele I and Caterina, Infanta of Spain, who was so fond of these places that she granted a substantial legacy to the Cistercian monks at the time of her death. Each of the rooms is named after a member of the Royal family and a stay in this is like going into the history of the Savoy dynasty.
