Úsobí Castle was a hospital for the elderly during the communist Czech Republic. Later, from the Velvet Revolution of 1989 until 1999, when the current owner arrived, the castle remained empty. Almost only ruins remained. In 1999 the Polák family bought the castle and began its reconstruction . Mr. Polák studied the castle's history, reconstructed the broken walls and windows, furnished the entire castle with historical furniture, and repaired the castle's shingle roof with his three sons.
Currently, the castle is accessible to anyone interested in history, unique spaces, and nontraditional rooms for any occasion.
Zámek Úsobí History
Among the many castles in the Czech Republic, Úsobí Castle is exceptional because you can sit in a historic armchair, sleep in a historic bed, browse through a century-old book or magazine, transport yourself to the old days of the 18th century, and spend a romantic stay in a castle apartment without a television.
The castle has been restored from a state of ruin to its present form through the efforts and resources of the Polák family. You can take a tour of the castle with the owner and you are sure to be fascinated not only by the rich history of the castle, but also by the story of the rebirth of this beautiful monument.
The castle, originally renovated as a family residence, is now almost entirely open to the public for various purposes and occasions, be it concerts, weddings, baptisms, lodging, celebrations, etc.
