Spaltenna is an ancient feudal village in the Chianti countryside, composed of a fortified monastery with a bell tower and some farmhouses arranged around it. The group consisting of the Castle and the Pieve is dated 1030 even if the Castle should be older than the Parish.
An architectural complex then dating back to the year one thousand, exemplary for having kept intact the structures of medieval architecture, austere and of great sobriety, with architrave ceilings, large portals and stone fireplaces. Subjected to a skilful conservative restoration, it is today home to a hotel, whose bedrooms are furnished with sophisticated fabrics and furniture.
In addition to the large outdoor pool with waterfall, an indoor heated pool, sauna, gym and tennis court are available. The gastronomic proposals follow the Mediterranean diet based on seasonal products: in full respect of local traditions, the chef and his staff propose the classic Tuscan specialties, which the maitre of the dining room combines one of the 250 labels in the cellar. At lunchtime the buffet can also be served by the pool, while dinner is often served in the cloister of the monastery. In one of the halls, characterized by the presence of antiques, old paintings, ceilings with wooden beams and heraldic coats of arms, there is a billiard room. The hotel staff can also organize receptions and business meetings, adapting the services to the type of requests. In case the guests exceed 30 people, the castle is rented totally.
