The Romanesque-Gothic castle of Zbiroh originated in the late 12th century as the oldest noble residence in the Czech Republic. The original part of the castle is still dominated by the even older independent watchtower in our territory, the deepest well in Europe and one of the oldest castle chapels in the country. Zbiroh acquired its present appearance as a grand Renaissance castle at the end of the 16th century, under the rule of Emperor Rudolf II of Habsburg. The Chateau Hotel Zbiroh is the only hotel where it is possible to stay overnight in the rooms where great people such as precisely Emperor Rudolf II, Charles IV, Sigismund or as the painter Alfons Mucha, the soprano Emma Destin and other celebrities stayed. The restaurant U Rudolfovy kratochvíle and the exhibition with the fascinating history of the castle and the Knights Templar are open daily.

Today's Zbiroh Castle (originally a Romanesque-Gothic castle built before 1230) is, thanks to its deep history, the only one in the Czech Republic to offer the possibility of a wedding in a purely medieval and refined castle.
