The Porer lighthouse was built in 1833 on the islet of the same name, 2.5 km southwest of the southern cape of Istria and the village of Premantura. The 35 meter high tower is located in the center of the stone building on the first floor, with a concrete courtyard.
The islet is an 80 m wide rock with three rather small landings. It takes a little more than a minute to cross the entire islet. The sunsets here are considered among the most beautiful on the Adriatic.
Faro di Porer History
The submarine bottom around the islet of Porer with numerous sandbanks and rocks is very fascinating for all diving lovers. Due to the strong sea currents and the fact that cold and warm currents mix, the sea around Porer is an extremely rich in fish, where you can catch numerous species of fish (almost 90% of those living in the Adriatic).
