Gerstner K.u.K Hofzuckerbäcker History
The history of Gerstner K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäcker began in 1847, when Anton and Barbara Gerstner laid the foundations for the Gerstner Company by founding their pastry shop in the heart of Vienna. With exceptional artistic skills, passion for chocolate and using only the best ingredients, they have impressed their customers with handmade cakes and desserts.
Since becoming an imperial pastry shop in 1873, Gerstner has evolved into a diversified and highly successful enterprise. Building on this long tradition, Gerstner has managed to become one of the most prestigious companies in the Austrian food and hospitality sector.

The pastry shop is located opposite the famous Staatsoper theater in the historic Palais Todesco.
On the ground floor there is the store area, where there is the entire range of Gerstner Imperial Tradition products, with tasty gifts and souvenirs, elegantly packaged and ready to take or give away. While you are here you can try the wide range of organic teas, coffees, fruit juices, vegan juices and punch.
On the first floor you can sit in the Livingroom atmosphere of the Gerstner Bar, delight in pastries with a sip of sparkling wine and enjoy a privileged view of the famous Staatsoper.
The upper floor, once the site of the imperial Vienna society, is now the unique setting in which the Café-Restaurant Gerstner serves traditional Viennese cuisine, accompanied by a selection of wines.
