Palazzo Bocci History
Palazzo Bocci is one of the most prestigious buildings in the historic center of Spello, one of the most fascinating Umbrian towns, and for more than six centuries has passed the name of captain of fortune Pier Leone Bocci.
The current appearance is largely due to the restructuring of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, but the building still retains the original fourteenth-century structure. And as in a sort of geological stratification, in time inside the building were created intermediate floors, gradients, niches and steps that give life to decidedly moving paths.
On the three canonical floors, three more intermediate ones have been added, in which the suites and bedrooms are located. Compared to the latter, simpler and more modern, the suites have antique or classic style furnishings and delicately frescoed ceilings, in a combination of sober elegance and harmony. All accommodations are soundproof and equipped with minibar, air conditioning and satellite TV to ensure an exclusive and comfortable stay.
Some Cameresi overlook a small hanging garden, where breakfast is served in summer. The heart, and jewel, of Palazzo Bocci is undoubtedly the Sala degli Affreschi, with trompe l'oeil paintings of the late nineteenth century, created by Benvenuto Crispoldi and other masters of the period. For those who want to set a business lunch or a meeting in this quiet and charming corner of history, the hotel also has some equipped rooms, providing for each eventuality a personalized service and a punctual organization. The restaurant "II Molino", housed in a crusher of the fourteenth century facing the building, offers local cuisine, enhanced by the extreme care of raw materials and the combination with the best local and national labels. During the summer you can dine on the outdoor terrace, while in winter the room is heated by the ancient fireplace.
