Palazzo del Capo, nestled between the blue of the sea and the green mountains that surround it, is a hotel housed in a structure dating back to the eleventh century, a centuries-old residence of the Duchi de Aloe family. After careful restoration, it is today a luxurious hotel where the spacious and spacious rooms are equipped with modern comforts and antique furniture. Palazzo del Capo History
The history of Palazzo del Capo is so complex and complex that it deserves to be told in a pretty booklet, easily found in the hotel. In reading it, you will lose yourself in the interweaving of over ten centuries of events and perhaps even more, given that on the origins of the fortified area reached until today there is no certain news. It is known, however, that the Via Traianea, an important road axis that certainly had to give impetus to the development of this complex, was passing close to a first Roman fort. Over the centuries, the main building then became the residence of noble families, from the princes of Carata di Belvedere to the Dukes of Aloe. The latter in the nineteenth century devoted themselves above all to the strengthening of the rural part, building an oil mill - of which there are some ancient millstones - planting a vineyard and creating a vegetable garden for the cultivation of citrus and flowers. They are also responsible for the elegant grand staircase and the wide openings on the façade.
In 1986 Palazzo del Capo was declared a "well of considerable artistic and historical interest", and five years later opened to the public as a hotel, which rightfully became part of the association "Abitare la Storia". Donna Nicoletta and Donna Enrica are among the names of the rooms and suites, spacious and furnished with period furniture. The swimming pool is located in the middle of a large green area, at the back of the hotel, while in front of the main facade, beyond a garden of tall palm trees, lies a long sandy beach reserved for guests.
The excellence of Palazzo del Capo is the restaurant, led by chef Stefano Scorzo and his staff, where they find space the most significant dishes of the Mediterranean tradition, but prepared with cutting-edge techniques and tools that minimize the use of superfluous seasonings. In summer, there is the typical cuisine of "La Rotonda", an open-air restaurant on the cliff, to unite the incomparable panorama offered by the promontory to tastes and flavors.
The hotel also offers large rooms for conferences and receptions and a small chapel to celebrate ceremonies and a new modern space dedicated to wellness, with the internal SPA where you can regenerate body and mind with numerous treatments.
