The San Biagio Relais is located in an ancient noble palace in the historic center of Orbetello, a historic town of the Etruscan era. The 41 rooms and suites, some with frescoed ceilings, are furnished with extreme elegance giving the rooms a welcoming and charming atmosphere, all with the comfort of modern services.
San Biagio Relais History
The San Biagio Relais occupies a noble palace in the historic center of Orbetello, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, carefully expanded and restored in May 2006. An enchanted place, where you can breathe the history of the State of the Royal Presidi of Spain or a territorial entity under the sovereignty of the Spanish Monarchy on the coast of Tuscany between 1557 and 1707.
Set between the historic center and the lagoon, the San Biagio Relais immediately welcomes its guests, through a luminous and noble entrance, in a unique atmosphere in perfect balance between art and history: the spaces at the entrance, from the hall to the hall breakfast, they are characterized by warm and welcoming tones, winding through the play of arches and openings that let us glimpse the thickness of the original walls and the architectural structure of the ceilings.
The central corridor leading to the outer court was once traveled by the carriages that led the prisoners inside the Court: the hall and the central halls were in fact simply the prisoners of the condemned. A hotel that has left intact its historical characteristics, adding class and sophistication. The San Biagio has in fact maintained almost all the furnishings and frescoed ceilings on the main floor, giving the opportunity to make a real leap into history; initially consisting of 15 rooms, given the success after the opening, the property decided to expand the structure, buying the Spanish Court: after the renovation we find today 41 rooms of different categories, (13 Classic, 14 Superior, 6 Junior Suite and 8 Suites) furnished in a successful combination of antique furniture and modern pieces of furniture.
Breakfast is served in the veranda on the ground floor, located in a picturesque internal garden, where you can also relax in the company of a cup of tea or an aperitif; there is also a lounge bar and an exclusive restaurant, where the dishes of the typical Tuscan cuisine find the best realization. An elegant space, where the simple and refined furniture is flanked by a careful choice of lights and floral decorations. The kitchen follows the seasonality of the products, always looking for the best combination of taste, health and presentation. Fish is the masterpiece in the recipes of San Biagio that with the nearby presence of the sea always comes fresh.
The fortunate position of the hotel, in the heart of the Maremma, allows a wide choice among leisure opportunities, from cycling tours, from trekking to horse riding, from golf to sailing, and thanks to the short distance from the long beaches of Giannella della Feniglia Orbetello is the ideal base for trips to the nearby Talamone, Capalbio, the famous Etruscan sites of Saturnia, the Uccellina National Park as well as the beautiful islands of Giglio and Giannutri.
