The ancient Castle of Collevalenza, just 7 kilometers from Todi, includes the watchtower of the 1200s today home to a charming B & B restaurant. During its centuries-old history, the ancient tower has witnessed numerous clashes and disputes between the Guelph and Ghibelline factions of Todi, as well as the castle repeatedly attacked, damaged, razed to the ground and subject to discord until the sixteenth century. Even though with a history so troubled the castle was rebuilt in 1424 so that even today you can admire the towers and walls in Gothic style of the time but long afterwards nothing could counteract the effects of the earthquake. This is when Rosary, the owner, finding these ruins fell in love immediately starting a long but scrupulous renovation, following every detail and recovering in addition to the watchtower, also part of the castle walls and old barns.
