Castello di Casigliano History
The beautiful sum of 495,000 scudi: so much so that Prince Corsini bought the castle of Casigliano. It was 1605 and since then the fortress and its village have always belonged to the Corsini, until today, in the person of the Countess Lucrezia, who has taken care of the restructuring to return it to history in its splendor. According to some sources, the first nucleus of this building complex originated before the year 1000, but was then transformed in 1519 into the powerful stronghold we see today and that in the centuries was the scene of battles, devastations, important meetings between popes and prominent personalities .
The two key words that can summarize the type of hospitality offered at the castle of Casigliano are elegance and simplicity. A rustic style full of charm and warmth - derived from the use of furnishings in poor arias and finishes such as terracotta floors, brick fireplaces and wooden beams - characterizes the five apartments obtained in the old houses of the village. Of some of them it is also possible to rent only one room, with respective bathroom and private entrance, to guarantee total privacy. Furthermore, the opening of eleven new rooms inside the castle itself is taking place, very spacious and furnished with antiques; in particular, those located on the main floor guarantee very prestigious settings, with frescoed ceilings also in the bathrooms, sixteenth century fireplaces and an incomparable view over the green Umbrian hills.
